Unclaimed funds are funds held by the court for an owner or recipient who is entitled to money, but who has not claimed ownership. Most unclaimed funds arise when dividends (assets) are distributed by the trustee to creditors pursuant to settlement of a bankruptcy case, but the property goes unclaimed.
Creditors desiring to recover funds previously submitted to the treasury as unclaimed may do so by filing a motion, submitting a proposed order, and providing proof of identity. For complete procedures, click here.

Notes on How to Search:
- Use Wildcards
- When only a portion of the name is known, select Use Wildcards, and enter the "%" sign (wildcard) in the search string. Entering the "%" on each side of the known element will generate a report of all entities containing that known element, for example, "%Bank%" in the Creditor Name Search Field will return a report of all Creditors with the word "Bank" in their name. Entering the "%" at the end of the known element will generate a report of all entities that start with the known element, for example, "North American%" in the Creditor Name Search Field will return a report of all Creditors whose names start with the phrase "North American".
- Find Similar Names
- When the spelling of a name is uncertain, select Find Similar Names. The Similar Names search will return a report of all entities with names similar to the known element. For example, a Similar Names search on the creditor name "Johnson" would return a report of all creditors named Johnson, Johnston, Jones, and so forth.
