Payment Method

Only the Cedar Rapids Clerk's office accepts payments.  The Clerk’s office cannot make change for the payment of filing or miscellaneous fees. The preferred forms of payment are money order, cashier’s check and credit card (Pro Se filers may not pay fees by credit card).

Cashiers are only present in the Cedar Rapids office; however, public computers are available in the Sioux City office which may be used by Debtors and others not registered in ECF to make Debit card or ACH payments.

 

If paying by cashier’s check or money order, make payable to “Clerk, U.S. Bankruptcy Court” and please include your case number.

Payments mailed to the Sioux City office will be returned to sender.

(1) If an electronically filed document requires a fee, the fee must be paid through CM/ECF with a credit card, debit card, or by ACH transactions.

(2) The Court has an Electronic Payment Method available through Pay.Gov (separate from ECF payment method) for non-ECF filers (debtors or other parties). Please visit the Online Payment page for details about how to pay online.

(3) ECF-registered payers may pay by Cashier’s check only when directed to do so by the Clerk’s office.
